Power of Attorney Service is pleased to welcome our new Admin Assistant to the team - Quennie Miguel

Sunday 17th May 2015

Our rental division has been very busy renting out studios and 1 bed apartments in the newly handed over Lakeside and Lincoln Park projects. If you have a property in either of these projects and need a Power of Attorney to assist with the Handover of your property please get in touch.

If you are interested to sell your property please contact our sales division

The new shopping mall in IMPZ is really starting to take shape now and should be completed by the start of next year. Furthermore they have now put barriers up around the "lakes" and built a running track around them. Hopefully we will see the water going in before the year is out. That will certainly be something to celebrate!

Sunday 9th February 2014

The UK rain storms seem to have arrived in Dubai!

I've uploaded some photos for Damac's Lake Side in IMPZ which is certainly taking shape and should be completed soon.

I've also uploaded a couple of videos of the project on Youtube -

please go to

or you can also do a search on for Lake Side IMPZ February 2014.

If any Damac owners are keen to rent out their Lake Side property or require a Power of Attorney for the Handover please don't hesitate to get in contact. We also have some investors who are keen to buy studios and 1 bed apartments

Sunday 27th July 2013

I've uploaded some new photos and views of Damac's latest project The Signature Burjside Boulevard in Downtown Dubai. Right opposite the Dubai Mall with superb views of the Burj Khalifa, this new building offers 1, 2 & 3 bed apartments. They are all fully furnished to a very high standard and the building has an outdoor pool, gym and a number of cafes and restaurants on site. Not that you need them with the Dubai Mall just across the road.

We would like to welcome Aaron Dougan to the Move In Dubai team. Aaron is from Northern Ireland and brings with him years of experience in commercial real estate.

Friday 19th July 2013

I'm back from the UK! I was very fortunate with the weather and I must say that England really is the best place in the world when the sun shines!!

Back to work full steam ahead. The market is incredibly busy and we are doing a lot of sales. If anyone is keen to sell their finished property, please get in touch with us immediately.

Wednesday 10th July 2013

Ramadan Kareem! Today is the start of the holy month of Ramadan which continues until the 7th August. Everyone has to respect the rules during Ramadan which for non muslims basically means no eating, drinking or smoking in public places during daylight hours. Our working hours will continue as normal. Sending best wishes to all our Muslim clients and friends during their special time.

Friday 5th July 2013

I'm off to Paris and the UK today for a 2 week break. I'm certainly looking forward to catching up with friends & family! In my absence please contact

Wednesday 12th December 2012

It's been a fantastic year! The property market is really picking up now and we have been inundated with enquiries for sales. We have ready buyers for all types of residential property and can act as Power of Attorney for both buying and selling property. We are RERA registered brokers so can act as agents as well. Whilst the global financial crisis drags on, many existing owners are cashing in giving a ready supply of property to buy. Meanwhile the trouble in the neighbouring Arab countries has sparked a flurry of investors wishing to put their money into Dubai which is seen as a safe haven. There are still way more sellers than buyers but if you are looking to sell at a realistic price then we can certainly find you a buyer.

I would like to welcome Philip Smith to the Power of Attorney Service team. Philip is from Northern Ireland, he has a law degree from Dundee University in Scotland and until recently worked as a paralegal for a large law firm in the UK. He is a great asset to the team. Welcome on board!

Wishing all our clients a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Tuesday 16th October 2012

I'm turning 40 years old today....a great day for a round of golf on the Fire Course @ Jumeirah Golf Estates.

I went to an auction at the Land Department last week. There were just 4 properties for sale which were being auctioned off by one of the banks. A 2 bed apartment in Southridge, Downtown started at AED 2 million and sold for AED 3.4 million. The frenzy of buying was pretty insmane really but I think it was more about the prestige of buying at an auction as it was hardly a good deal! The buyer wasn't actually present, his representative was taking bids over the phone....

We are working closely with one of Dubai's biggest mortgage brokers. The banks seem to have loosened their purse strings so please get in touch with us if you want to apply for a mortgage. As from 2013 some banks will also be offering mortgages to non residents from the UK, India and Pakistan.

2013 is certainly shaping up to be a very good year for the Dubai property market!

Best regards

I am delighted to announce that I got married last week!60 friends and family flew over to Cape Town for a truly magical week. We had a fabulous day wine tasting in Stellenbosch & Franschoek, we climbed up and abseiled down Table Mountain ( an extremely scary yet exhilarating experience!). 10 of us went cage diving with great white sharks which was pretty intense. The boat was surrounded by 6 great whites, the largest of which was 6 metres long! The wedding day itself was just beautiful. We got married in a lovely little Catholic church in Camps Bay, literally 50 metres from the beach. We had a gospel choir during the service who brought tears to everyone's eyes and got everyone up clapping & dancing! The reception was at the heavenly Buitenverwachting vineyard in Constantia and we finished the night with a superb party at a villa in Camps Bay with fire dancers and a sumptuous SA BBQ.

We then had a fantastic safari experience at Pumba Game Reserve, just outside of Port Elizabeth. If you haven't been to South Africa I would certainly not miss a visit to this incredible country. The food, the wines, the people, the stunning scenery, the history and endless adventures make for a really superb holiday!

Here's to married bliss!

Ramadan Kareem! Ramadan is now in full swing and by 4pm much of Dubai looks like a ghost town, with businesses closing early and employees heading home at 3pm. The team at Move In Real Estate are still working normal hours throughout the whole month so we are still here to manage your property, find you a tenant or complete your Handover.

A new member of staff Mike Deedigan, joins the Move In team tomorrow. Hailing from Ireland, Mike has worked in real estate for more than 6 years in Italy, Portugal, Cyprus and Spain. Andrew and I have known Mike for 6 years and worked with him whilst we were based in Spain. He will be a huge asset to our team and we welcome his experience, knowledge and enthusiasm.

Select Group has announced that the inspections will start soon for Botanica in Dubai Marina. If anyone requires assistance with the snagging process please send an email to or call 00971 50 107 6461.

Monday 13th June 2011

Greetings! We are just waiting for the Handover of Lago Vista in IMPZ which should start on 3rd July. 1000 apartments in total with pool, gym, tennis court and japanese gardens these apartments will be ideal for singles and families. We will also be working on Silverene and The Torch in Dubai Marina.

The summer is truly upon us now with temperatures up to 45 degrees already. A fabulous new restaurant has opened in the Palm Mirage Hotel called 101 which I can highly recommend. Superb food, awesome setting surrounded by water and outstanding views over Dubai Marina. You can even take a boat from the Royal Mirage to the restaurant!

Best regards Helen

Sunday 16th January 2011

Ocean Heights is due for Handover very soon. DU are apparently installing the phone & internet lines so there has been a slight delay in Handover which should be announced soon. Lago Vista and Tuscan Residence in Jumeirah Village are progressing well and should be Handed over in the next couple of months. Emirates Gardens 2 is also coming along nicely and should be handed over around May time. If anyone needs Power of Attorney Service to complete their Handover, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Damac are processing Title Deeds for Emirates Gardens and some are already ready. If you need a POA to collect them for you, please let me know.

I have received quite a few enquiries from clients wishing to sell their properties - there are quite a few buyers in the market although they are expecting low prices. If you are keen to sell your property, please get in touch with me.

It's going to be a very busy year!

Best regards Helen

Saturday 1st January 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May this year be a very positive year for everyone, bringing health, wealth and true happinness.

Thursday 30th December 2010

Saturday 15th December 2010

Merry Christmas! Wishing everyone a fabulous Christmas, wherever they may be! I am in the UK for Christmas this year with family & friends, enjoying the cold weather and snow! We are off skiing to Chamonix on Boxing Day! Can't wait!

Have fun! Christmas wishes from Helen

Saturday 11th December 2010

I was up at Tuscan Residence today in Jumeirah Village which looks superb. It's a great location, right at the entrance to Jumeirah Village and within walking distance to the small supermarket & dry cleaners. The 6 low rise buildings are identical to Emirates Gardens 1 so the layout and sizes of the apartments should be fantastic. I have posted photos on my Facebook page HELEN EATON POA and also created a group Tuscan Residence, Jumeirah Village, Dubai. Please request an invite to join so you can meet other owners.

I have also been into Ocean Heights twice now which looks awesome. The main reception is very grand, the facilities all look good so now it's all about the layouts. The location is superb with amenities on your doorstep. Handover is estimated for early 2011.

Best regards Helen

Wednesday 17th November 2010

Eid Mubarak! It is very quiet in Dubai at the moment due to the Eid holidays, with many companies closed and/or staff taking time off work. It's an ideal time to be out visiting projects which are soon to be finished. Lago Vista in IMPZ has progressed tremendously well - the car park is done, the children's play area, Japanese Gardens and reception areas are underway but no work has started on the pool yet. Handover is still a few months away so realistically we should be looking at early 2011.

The Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix was a resounding success with Germany's Sebastian Vettel winning the race for the Red Bull team in 1 hour 39 minutes. Just 23 years old he is the world's youngest champion. Superb entertainment was provided by a number of top acts including 52 year old Prince, Dubai's local group Beat Antenna, Linkin Park and Kanye West.

Dubai has enjoyed the presence of Tom Cruise and the Mission Impossible 4 crew over the last few weeks. Tom was seen doing his own stunts at the World's tallest building, Burj Khalifa. A good friend of mine was an extra on the film set and almost fainted when she saw Tom walk into the room, later exclaiming that he was simply gorgeous!

A number of new properties will be handed over in Dubai Marina soon, namely Dubai Pinnacle, Marina 23, Princess Tower, Ocean Heights and The Torch to name a few. There is already a huge surplus of properties on the market for both rental and sale in the Marina so these new properties will doubtedly drag the price of property and rental down substantially. There have been a number of reports issued recently with estimations that 40,000 new properties have been handed over this year already and by 2012 there will be an oversupply of 100,000 apartments on the market.

The Dubai property market is a long way from what it used to be and buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants need to be realistic and adjust to the current market conditions. Agents also need to manage client's expectations and have a responsibility to be honest and work in a transparent manner. It is also very important to remain positive at all times! Dubai is a fabulous place to live and work and has a serious amount of potential. The future definitely looks very bright. 5 to 10 years from now will be a very different story.

I can provide a service to act as Power of Attorney for property sales and property handovers. Our rental division will gladly rent out your property for you. Move In has a lot of connections with companies in Dubai so has an excellent source of tenants.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards

Thursday 30th September 2010

It's amazing how 2 months flies by so quickly. One day Damac are announcing the EG Handover and the next minute you are working 24/7 for 2 whole months! I am pleased to confirm that I have successfully completed 35 Handovers and Move In Real Estate have rented out every single apartment. Great news to say the least! Thanks to the Move In team for all their hard work and efforts, they really have done incredibly well. There are still at least 350 owners yet to complete Handover so I would be pleased to hear from anyone who requires my assistance.

Sheikh Mohammed has announced this week that Dubai is "back to business" and "on the road to recovery". I am sure that positive media actually works and perhaps the UK press could take a leaf out of the Gulf New's book! Whilst bad news sells, it can also be very depressing and life is just too short for that! I was at the Land Department this week selling a couple of properties in International City and have to say that it really was busy there. There were many transactions taking place which is a very good sign. Whilst property prices are still low, there are a number of buyers in the market so business is looking up.

Apparently Mission Impossible 4 will be filmed in Dubai over the next few weeks so we will see Tom Cruise being chased along the top of the new metro. There will surely be a few stunt scenes involving the Burj Khalifa too, so that will be pretty exciting for those involved and for us to watch.

Damac have said that Ocean Heights and Lago Vista will hopefully be ready for Handover this year so please continue to watch this space. If you require a Power of Attorney to complete your Handover or if you are a tenant keen to live in IMPZ or the Dubai Marina, please get in touch. As soon as I have more news I will let you know

Anyway, back to work as there is lots to do!

Best regards Helen Eaton

It's a sad day for England but best not to discuss it any longer....onwards and upwards...

I have uploaded some photos of Emaar's new project MOSELA in the Greens. Right next to the Fairways and overlooking Emirates Golf Course this fabulous development should be completed by October 2010. Congratulations to anyone that has bought in there - calling all tenants this is a hot new property complete with no less than 2 swimming pools. The Greens is such an awesome place to live. Top 3 reasons why you should live there:-

1) It is finished - there is NO construction at all!

2) It is green! There are trees, gardens, flowers - plus lakes which are ideal for running or walking around and it is dog friendly

3) You can walk to the mall - on your door step you have got Choitrams, Tips & Toes, Butlers Dry cleaners, a pharmacy, cashpoints, banks, Wagamamas, Nandos, Berts which is great for smoothies, a Saturday breakfast or lunch out, Costa Coffee, Mashawi which does divine Lebanese food plus of course Caribou Coffee if you are a coffee lover. Plus there is a Mosque.

Please note that there is NO traffic in the Greens anymore since they opened the flyover straight into Media City and installed the traffic lights..happy days!

Will keep you posted on updates. Owners if you need a Power of Attorney to complete your Handover for you - please send me an email to or call me on +971 50 107 6461

I have uploaded some new photos onto the Developments page of my website of Marina Residence on Palm Jumeirah, Bonnington Tower in Jumeirah Lake Towers and Lago Vista in IMPZ. The first two are already handed over and Lago Vista should be completed before the end of this year.

Happy viewing!

Monday 3rd May 2010

If you haven't yet been up the tallest building in the world, I highly recommend it! AED 100 a ticket, the fastest yet quietest lift I have ever been in and incredible winds at the top. The views were to be expected. If you live in Dubai and have been to any tall building then you know what the view will be. However The Address Hotel looked tiny and Downtown Burj looked like a toy model! The fountains looked like little water sprinklers and cars like something out of a matchbox. You could also see The World in the distance although it was a bit hazy. It's something to tick off your list though so head up to the Burj Khalifa.

If you are coming to Dubai on holiday and want to have a cultural day out, I highly recommend the following. Take the metro to Union Station in Deira and then walk along the Creek towards the Abra stations. Remember to stop for a coconut (they will chop the top off and give you a straw to drink it!). Take the Abra (AED 1 bargain) to the Old Town and make your way through the textile souk. You will get stopped and pestered by the shop owners trying to sell you their wares but it's all good fun. There is a really lovely restaurant in the middle of the souk which overlooks the Creek. Order an Arabic meze - humus, flat bread, Greek salad, tabouleh salad, mixed platter of kebabs and meats and tuck in. Don't forget the mint lemonade. Not only is it shaded with a cool breeze, the view of the overladen dhow boats returning from India and Africa are a fascinating sight. After lunch head to the museum for a tour back in time. When they are excavating land for new developments they are discovering skeletons dating back thousands of years. Really very interesting.

Emirates Gardens in Jumeirah Village will soon be ready for Handover. Located between Al Khail Road and Emirates Road, just near to Sports City roundabout these pretty low rise buildings come complete with swimming pool and gym. If you require a Power of Attorney to complete your Handover, please make contact now. I have many owners signed up and I will be completing the pre-inspections first which take place in the first 4 weeks after Damac announce completion.

Sunday 12th April 2010

We had a superb weekend in Abu Dhabi. With tickets for the UFC fight at the new Ferrari themeworld on Yas Island it was the prime opportunity to stay at the fabulous Yas Hotel. And yes... it is fabulous and well worth the AED 800 per night room charge. Saturday kicked off with a brunch at the hotel - a feast of lobster, crabs, prawns, oysters and sushi - and that's just for starters! Beef Wellington, Roast Duck, Roast Lamb, Roast Chicken were followed by a wonderful spread of deserts. The fight itself was exciting, bloody and great entertainment. Fighters included Maia, BJ Penn, Matt Hughes and Phil Davis and total audience was just over 11,000. Only a select few were invited to attend the after party at our hotel, which was absolutely superb!

Back to Dubai today! Lots of work on this week

Wednesday 17th March 2010

Happy St Patricks Day! If you are looking for some entertainment then I would head down to the Irish Village who are hosting 4 days of music, dance shows and activities for children. DJ Marky Mark is playing tonight and Sir Bob Geldof will be in concert on Friday!

Mirdiff City Centre Mall has finally opened. 196,000 m2 and built in 2 years at a cost of AED 3 billion, this fabulous new mall has 350 stores and over 75 restaurants and cafes. Shops include the popular US furniture store Pottery Barn, the legendary UK fashion label Miss Selfridge and the celebrated Australian home furnishings brand Freedom Furniture. New restaurants to the region include the US Chinese restaurant P.F. Changs, the UK Indian eatery Tiffinbites and for authentic Egyptian cuisine why not try Abu Sid from Cairo. We can also enjoy home favourites such as the Butcher Shop & Grill and the Mango Tree Bistro.

For those seeking activities, Magic Planet Entertainment zone will house 5 a side football pitches plus an indoor wind tunnel where you can safely experience sky diving!

Gary Rhodes is set to launch his second Dubai restaurant at Taste of Dubai this week. Called Twenty10 and based at Le Royal Meridien hotel, we can look forward to a steak house with a difference. Watch this space for food reviews...!

The summer is approaching, but we can still make the most of the fabulous weather in March. There are many events to look forward to including the Dubai World Cup and the Red Bull Air Race. Even Kelly Rowland is playing here next week and UFC is heading this way in April.

Jones Lang Lasalle have reported that the population of Dubai grew by 7.6% in 2009. This is due to the influx of residents from neighbouring emirates Sharjah and Abu Dhabi who are taking advantage of the falling rents in Dubai. The rental prices are still very high though in some areas, compared to the rest of the world.

If you are waiting for your Title Deeds or need your property registered with the Land Department please get in touch. I have registered over 15 apartments at the Land Department in the last few weeks, collected all the Title Deeds and couriered them safely to their owners.

Do you want to sell your property investment in Dubai? I am able to represent overseas owners as Power of Attorney, completing all necessary paperwork at the Land Department and ensuring the sale goes smoothly. Please send an email to

Best regards Helen

Tuesday 19th January 2010

Good news for Crescent owners...Empower are finally going to complete their permanent connection at The Crescent in the next week or so which means no diesel charges for 2010. The new 2010 maintenance charges are being approved by RERA and will be due on 25th January. Make sure your tenants are registered with Empower so that they will pay for consumption.

Emirates Gardens is making good progress and should be ready for Handover in either February or March. Any overseas owners requiring a Power of Attorney for Handover, please get in contact. Please send an email to or call +971 50 107 6461

We have been busy registering apartments in the Land Department and collecting Title Deeds for owners. This month we are focusing on the Bonnington Towers in JLT. A fabulous 5* hotel complete with licensed bar, the Bonningtons offers superb facilities, luxury hotel rooms and apartments all of which can be rented on both a short and long term basis. Anyone keen to register their apartment, sell or even rent, please contact Power of Attorney Service.

Apparently almost all units at The Crescent and Lake View have now been registered at the Land Department by Damac, so if you require your Title Deeds to be collected, please get in touch with Power of Attorney Service. We will collect your Title Deeds and courier them directly to your door, in any country.

There has been an uproar recently with regards to a change in visa status for visitors. Apparently if you enter Dubai on a 30 day tourist visa, it is not possible to exit the country and re-enter within 30 days. This does not bode well for tourists wishing to enjoy a visit to Oman or any neighbouring countries or those who are using Dubai as a stop off enroute to/from any other country. It also raises questions for those who frequent here on business or for those expat owners who wish to enjoy Dubai's warm winters. We will keep a close eye on the news for any updates.

Wishing you all well.

Best regards

Saturday 9th January 2010

A new world record was set yesterday for BASE jumpers around the world with two men jumping from the new Burj Khalifa! Nasr Al Niyadi and Omar Al Hegelan jumped from a crane suspended platform attached to the 160th floor at 672 m high (2,200 ft). They descended the vertical drop at a speed of up to 220 km/h (140 mph), with enough time to open their parachutes 10 seconds into the 90 second jump. Amazing! Not for the faint hearted...

Tuesday 5th January 2010

We went to the opening of the tallest building in the world yesterday which was absolutely spectacular! Renamed the Burj Khalifa and soaring to 828 metres high, it has 160 habitable floors and cost a whopping US$1.5 billion to build. The opening ceremony was superb with over 10,000 fireworks many of which were soaring from the building itself. A fabulous display of silver and gold fireworks shooting from every floor, the dancing fountains were jumping over 150 metres in the air in time to the music and multi coloured light show. It was quite an emotional event with the crowds screaming with excitement.

Tickets to the 124th floor Observatory deck "At The Top" are selling for AED 100 each but you need to book in advance...

Thursday 31st December 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! May 2010 be a happy and prosperous year for all...

Thursday 24th December 2009

Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas from all the team at Power of Attorney Service!

Tuesday 24th November 2009

Good afternoon! Champion Lee Westward has praised the Dubai Golf World Championship as the best tournament that he has ever played, finishing on 23 under par. Greg Norman's stunning new Earth Course is one of 4 new courses in Jumeirah Golf Estates, all designed by a dream team which includes Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia and Pete Dye. Just a short drive from Damac's Crescent Property, it is undoubtedly a worthy challenge for all international players.

Power of Attorney Service is pleased to announce a new snagging service. Many developers will invite property owners to inspect their property for snagging, about 1 month before the actual Handover. This is the only time that owners will be able to inspect their property before Handover which is great but not ideal if you live overseas. Emirates Gardens is one of the next projects to be completed so please get in touch if this is of interest to you.

DU is finally operational in The Crescent so all owners and tenants can now sign up for internet, phone lines & satellite television.

Damac are now renting out parking spaces at The Crescent for AED 500 per month. Ideal for tenants who do not have a parking space and want to ensure a space after a hard day's work.

DMCC have begun work on the new carpark next to Lake View, there is some work going on around the retail shops and there is activity in the lake. Hopefully the new metro station at Jumeirah Lake Towers will be open in early 2010.

The Rugby Sevens kicks off next weekend, the EID holidays started today and it is National Day next week so it's celebration time here in the Middle East!

Best regards

Thursday 5th November 2009

Greetings to all property owners! The weeks are flying by and Christmas will soon be upon us. It has been a great year, thanks to all those who have used and supported Power of Attorney Service.

So what's new? I have completed more Handovers in Lake View and The Crescent; collected Title Deeds for both projects and couriered them safely to their owners; I have completed a sale in Lake View at the Land Department. All in all, it's been a busy few weeks.

The UAE had the excitement of the Formula 1 Grand Prix last weekend in Abu Dhabi. Packed out with visitors from around the worldwide, the noise was absolutely deafening whilst the atmosphere was electric. Definitely worth every penny with evening entertainment by Beyonce, Aerosmith, Jamiroquai and the Kings of Leon.

The Burj Dubai Tower is set to open on the 4th January 2010. It is now the tallest building in the world as well as the tallest man made structure in the world soaring to a record 818 metres high (2,684 feet). It also holds the record of most floors in a building at 160 AND it has the world's fastest elevators, travelling at 64 km/h (40 mph) or 18 metres per second / 59 feet per second. Now that is fast moving...

Aldar Properties have announced the completion of the external structure of the new Ferrari Theme Park in Abu Dhabi. When open in 2010, it will be the world's largest indoor theme park. It will host over 20 state-of-the-art attractions, including the world's fastest rollercoaster, travelling at speeds exceeding 200km/h emulating the thrilling sensation of being in a Ferrari F1 car. Whatever next...!

It is Guy Fawkes this evening in the UK which unfortunately is not celebrated here. Have a great night and enjoy the fireworks.

Best regards

Saturday 26th September 2009

Good morning! With Ramadan and the EID holiday over, it is back to business as usual. Thankfully the heat is starting to relent and it will soon be time to hit the beaches, pack up the camping gear and get the bbqs out.

The new metro system is up and running now which is absolutely fantastic. Superb views all the way along Sheikh Zayed Road until you submerge under the busy roads in Bur Dubai and Deira. Extremely efficient, very clean with comfortable seats, the views are accompanied by quite funky tunes quietly playing in the background. I purchased a Gold Pass wishing to travel in luxury, although it seemed I was not alone in this train of thinking and was unable to get a seat in Gold Class! I switched to a standard carriage and felt I was almost back at home in London, albeit with no dirt or heat. Nothing like the eclectic mix of people in London however still worth the journey and the AED 7 it cost me to travel from Mall of the Emirates to Rashidiya.

DU have been doing a lot of cabling work at The Crescent so we hope that the phone & internet will soon be ready there. The DU website is now quoting the date for their launch as November.

Empower have also been claiming that they will be fully operational in The Crescent by the end of October so fingers crossed there.

Damac have said that Emirates Gardens 1 is in the final stages of snagging and should be ready for Handover by the end of the year. Watch this space for more information.

If you need a reliable company to complete your property Handover, look no further than Power of Attorney Service. We will be glad to assist you.

Best regards, Helen

Monday 31st August 2009

The end to a very busy month! I have completed a number of Handovers in both The Crescent and Lake View and also successfully collected Title Deeds from both projects and couriered them safely to their requested destination. If you live overseas and your Title Deeds are ready, I can collect them for you and arrange a courier immediately. Why am I doing this? I understand the importance of having Title Deeds in your possession and empathise with overseas buyers. Power of Attorney Service is here to simply make your lives easier. An efficient and trustworthy service that gets the job done.

Wild Wadi water park is a fantastic place to visit in this heat. With warm waters and exciting rides, it's a hot favourite for tourists and locals alike.

A new Sega theme park has opened in Dubai Mall with 9 heart stopping attractions and 150 amusement games spread over 2 levels of adrenaline and excitement. From snowboarding simulators to bobsleds there is something for all the family. And don't miss the new REEL cinema, showing all the latest movies.

Welcome to Dubai!

Best regards, Helen

Monday 24th August 2009

Ramadan Kareem! 30 very important days are upon us in Dubai. Regardless of your faith and beliefs, everyone must respect the laws of the land that are laid down during Ramadan. No drinking, eating or smoking in public during the daylight hours and you need to dress respectably. With the severity of the heat and humidity this is a tough call for all to follow so full respect to those that complete the tasks ahead. Make sure that you celebrate the breaking of the fast with an Iftar - a sumptuous banquet of Arabic food with many hotels offering Iftars every evening.

I have completed more Handovers in both Lake View and The Crescent with all units being swiftly rented out by Move In Dubai. Sales have also been taking place for Lake View units with owners typically getting AED 600,000 for 1 beds and AED 1 million for 2 beds.

Once your Title Deeds are ready, please don´t hesitate to contact Power of Attorney Service for the collection of the Deeds and overseas courier service.

If you are unable to come to Dubai to complete your Handover, please get in touch soon. We are here to help.

Best regards, Helen

Thursday 13th August 2009

With temperatures averaging 40 degrees every day, the heat shows no signs of relenting. The sky is rarely blue though and is nearly always a white, greyish colour due to the sand storms and humidity.

Apparently there is a prolonged delay in the delivery of Jumeirah Village. The roads, electricity and water supply are not yet finished therefore Handovers cannot take place. Completion is now likely to be early 2010.

Marina Residence on Palm Jumeirah is on target for the last quarter of this year with completion expected in September or October.

The metro system is coming along very well and is still scheduled to open early September. There will be a number of walkways across Sheikh Zayed Road which will be airconditioned with walking travelators, revolutionising the current set up for pedestrians. Here in Dubai, there are so few areas where you can walk so this will be a welcome novelty!

Mall of the Emirates have introduced an adrenaline fuelled activity called Zorbing, where you are strapped into what looks like a giant hamster ball and rolled down the ski slopes of the snow dome! We will be trying it out and will report back with news and views.

Handovers are being done and properties are being rented out. If you own a property in Dubai which will soon be completed, please don´t hesitate to get in touch with Power of Attorney Service.

Have a good day! Helen

Returning to Dubai after a visit to the UK is always interesting. The first thing you notice is the heat, followed by the slower pace of life & business activity, the unfinished roads and the dust. Then living in the centre of a bustling city hits you, the excitement builds and you are pleased to be back in the desert. It is amazing how under-developed Dubai is. When you consider that New York has had skyscrapers for over a 100 years and England has had an outstanding education system since the 1400´s, Dubai really is in its infancy.

I am pleased to offer a new service now in the UK whereby we can complete the process for getting the Power of Attorney document certified at the Foreign & Commonwealth office and attested at the UAE Embassy. I visited the FCO whilst in the UK and whilst standing in the queue for 4 hours, I realised what owners have to go through and the importance of this additional service.

I completed 2 Handovers this week; a 2 bed at The Crescent and a 1 bed at Lake View. Both in excellent condition, I was impressed with the finish. If you have a unit in any project in Dubai and are not able to come to Dubai for whatever reason, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Power of Attorney Service. Not only can we complete your Handover, snagging and utility registration, we can also offer rental support.

The drop off zones at the entrance to Lake View and the 2 adjacent towers are now completed and apparently the ramps should be open within the next few weeks. I will keep you updated of progress.

Looking forward to a busy summer ahead!

Best regards, Helen

Wednesday 1st July 2009

It has been a very busy week! I completed my first Handover for Lake View in Jumeirah Lake Towers and I must say I was incredibly impressed with the finish of the property. Solid wood front door, bathroom with floor to ceiling tiles, decent sized balcony and a well laid out living room/kitchen/bedroom.

Move In Dubai have been doing a great job of renting out apartments over the past few weeks. A very professional and innovative approach seems to be resulting in a quick turnaround of properties so if you are keen to rent out your property please make contact with Their website is still under construction however when all is revealed, which will be shortly, you will not be disappointed!

I am heading to the UK for 2 weeks from 2nd to 16th July. Whilst away I will also go to the Foreign & Commonwealth office & the UAE Embassy for certification & attestation of documents, so if anyone requires a Power of Attorney for their property Handover, please don´t hesitate to call me whilst in England. My UK mobile is +44 7523 620 267.

If you are thinking about renting out your property on a short term basis, there is definitely a demand for this. With very few decent furnished properties on the market and an influx of expats arriving on short term contracts, the main criteria for success are as follows:- your property should be fully furnished to a high standard, have satellite TV & Internet, a maid service once a week plus all bed linen & towels should be provided. A good 2 bed apartment in the marina or Jumeirah Lake Towers should rent for AED 8,000 to AED 10,000 per month.

The summer is definitely upon us now with day time temperatures around the 42ºC mark and climbing! It will soon be time to escape the heat! Many residents leave the UAE during July and/or August which I am sure is a good idea!

With Wimbledon being shown on Arabian Sports channel 3, we can still enjoy the exciting games of Roger Federer & Andy Murray, albeit with Arabic commentators!

If you are keen to complete your property Handover and would like to use a Power of Attorney, please contact me on +971 50 107 6461.

They announced the new metro fares today! Between AED 0.8 to AED 6.5 for a standard fare, daily all day tickets for AED 14 and monthly passes for students will be AED 170. With the metro scheduled to start on 9th September 2009, the residents of Dubai eagerly await the grand opening!

Marina Residence on Palm Jumeirah is scheduled to complete within the next 3 months. Built by Nakheel, the 6 Arabian style towers on the trunk of the Palm look absolutely superb. Check out the Developments Page on the site for up to date photos.

The Fairways at The Greens is one of the best developments that I have seen recently, overlooking the infamous Emirates Golf Course with its lush fairways, large greens and Bedouin style tents. Some friends of ours have moved into a 2 bed apartment which overlooks the par three 7th and television has now become a thing of the past! With luxurious infinity swimming pools, waterfalls, gas fired bbqs & dining areas in the gardens and impressive reception areas, this Emaar project is a cross between a 5* hotel and Nikki Beach!

I have also uploaded photos of Ocean Heights in Dubai Marina which is scheduled for completion in August 2010. If anyone has any requests for photos of a particular development, please send an email to

Dubai is such a melting pot of cultures! Visit Bur Dubai or Deira and you will find yourself as a Westerner, in the minority. Visit a Brunch on a Friday and Westerners make up 95% of the onslaught. However a supermarket seems to be the one place where all nationalities come together. Carrefour, for example in Mall of the Emirates has a food section for every country – from the finest Australian & New Zealand meats to all the spices from India. Lulu´s hypermarket imports fruits and veg from what seems to be half the world and has frozen goods from the UK! Baby Bels mini cheeses are produced locally and are also imported from the United States at 4 times the price!

I have uploaded photos on the Developments Page of Lake View in Jumeirah Lake Towers. A great project in a very central location – it just needs the lake to be filled with water, the entrance to be finished and the shops to be open and it will look a lot better and have more to offer!

For those waiting for DU to be connected in your development, you can track their progress by going to the DU website

Thanks for the new enquiries today from the UK – I look forward to completing your Handover for you!

I am pleased to bring you new photos of The Crescent & Lago Vista in IMPZ on the Developments Page. Over the coming weeks I will posting a number of photos of different projects around Dubai. If anyone has any particular requests, please send an email to

If you ever fancy a good feast on a Saturday, I would recommend The Cellar at the Aviation Club (next to Irish Village). A superb menu offering many delights; from eggs benedict, shrimp cocktail and beef pie, to steak and chocolate icecream! Miniature portions ensure that you can eat at least 5 or 6 courses, accompanied by glasses of Jacob´s Creek.

For the latest business news in the Middle East, visit A list of the Top 50 most Powerful Expats has been produced which makes interesting reading, with the United Kingdom coming out on top with 17 influential people. The Power 100 lists the world´s most influential Arabs.

I completed another Crescent Handover today and will do the snag report tomorrow. If you are still debating on how to get to Dubai to complete your Handover, please don´t hesitate to get in contact with Power of Attorney Service.

Paris Hilton is coming to Dubai! Due to arrive on 16th June for 6 weeks in order to choose a new best friend to go shopping with, I am sure there will be a huge media frenzy surrounding her stay at the Intercontinental and nights out on the town!

I have had a busy couple of days snagging properties in The Crescent. Having presented photographic snag reports to the Facilities Management and Projects Team, one hopes that the snags will be attended to quickly.

Rental rates in The Crescent are still hovering around AED 30,000 to AED 35,000 for studios and AED 60,000 to 65,000 for 2 bed apartments. The rates in The Greens are on the rise again, with 2 beds in The Fairways renting for AED 120,000 on 4 cheques.

If you are keen to get your keys but cannot find the time to come to Dubai to complete your Handover, please don´t hesitate to make enquiries into using a Power of Attorney.

Monday 8th June 2009

Good evening! Another Crescent Handover completed today and a viewing from a potential tenant literally 5 minutes after collecting the keys! The team at Move In Dubai have a number of tenants lined up so please contact them at or call Andrew on +971 50 698 3929

Al Satwa, at the bottom of Sheikh Zayed Road is a wonderful area to visit; not on the tourist trail it is somewhere easily missed. Wide roads, huge villas, children playing in the dusty compounds, locals chatting by the little coffee shops – the atmosphere is superb. Away from the glitzy hotels, malls, busy roads and tower blocks, this really is a lovely peaceful area.

The temperature here is hovering around 38 to 39ºC with the humidity rising. The swimming pools are now being temperature controlled so are nice and cool! A pleasant relief from the hot sun!

Anyone looking to visit Dubai over the next few months, expect to return home with a tan! If you want to complete Handover of your property as soon as possible, please contact Power of Attorney Service! We will be pleased to help!

Sunday 7th June 2009

Good morning! It has been a very busy week with Handovers being completed in The Crescent in IMPZ. They have switched on the fountains outside Tower B in The Crescent and there are a lot of people living there now! After a photo shoot which finished as the sun was setting, we ventured to the Marriott at The Courtyard at Dubai Investment Park. It is definitely worth a visit! A fabulous setting surrounded by water, it´s a lovely location and probably the closest place for food and drinks!

I have been asked to act as Power of Attorney for clients for the sale of their property so whilst Handovers are my specialty, I can also provide this service if required. Just send an email to or give me a call on +971 50 107 6461 and I will answer any questions that you may have. The process is very straight forward, although the Power of Attorney document needs to be in Arabic and English so I will send you the finished format once I have all your details.

Sherwoods held their first property auction last week. Whilst little or no news has been reported, rumour has it that deals were completed after the auction itself. Sales and rentals are still on the go here and units are moving quickly. If you are keen to get your property rented or sold but do not have the time to come to Dubai, why not use the Power of Attorney Service? Everything will be done for you quickly and smoothly, with very little time or effort required by you.

Have a good day!

Hello! There are over 35 shopping malls in Dubai and almost no high street shops! The Burjuman is home to Saks Fifth Avenue, the Mall of the Emirates has Harvey Nichols and Dubai Mall will soon have Bloomingdales! Dubai is certainly a shopper’s paradise with a huge amount of choice! From Gap, Next, Ted Baker, M&S, Virgin Megastore, Boots the chemist & Borders book shop to Hugo Boss, Chanel, Bvlgari and Tiffany there is something for everyone in every mall!

One of the most popular past-times here is going to the cinema. Packed out on Friday and Saturday nights, there are a number of cinemas showing the latest films from around the world (ie Hollywood and Bollywood!) Cinestar is the leader in luxury film viewing offering Gold Class tickets. Reclining in a luxury leather Lazy Boy, seated in pairs with your own table, food and drinks are delivered to you! Choose from the wide menu in the private lounge before hand, this is very much VIP treatment!

Please note that the Power of Attorney can be legalised and attested in the country where you live, regardless of your nationality. For more details please go to for England or for the USA. When you are ready for my help I will send you the 3 step guide to the POA process, it´s very straight forward!

A new month, a new start! Seemingly this is what the Dubai Road Traffic Association do on a regular basis – they decide to either build a new road or dig up an existing road!

Dubai is one giant set of road works and even established areas such as The Springs are having their roads redone! A short 5 minute drive to the local beauty salon suddenly becomes a 25 minute journey out into the desert and you find yourself headed in the opposite direction of your house! You end up on the Emirates Road, surrounded by giant lorries and trying to make your way around what must surely be the largest roundabout in the World!! The joys of driving in Dubai! launched their inaugural flight today to Lebanon! Dubai´s new low cost airline offers one way flights from AED 250 to various destinations in the Middle East. Great news if you want a weekend away, want to visit family or perhaps make a quick business trip.

Remember if you are sending post to Dubai, always include a PO Box. Every resident here has to have a private PO Box or have mail delivered to their office, as post cannot be delivered to your home! DHL or couriers are different of course and can deliver to any address.

Well the aircon is on full and the humidity hit 85% this evening! Welcome to June!

Wishing you all a great month ahead!

Sunday 31st May 2009

Good evening! With swimming pool temperatures now reaching 32ºC and the sea like a very warm bath, one wonders how you will cool down in the summer heat! Ethiopa actually has the hottest average on earth at 34.3ºC, with Libya and then Death Valley claiming the hottest temperatures on record at 57.8ºC!! Dubai is actually extremely pleasant from October through to April and definitely the best time to visit! September and May are on the fringes of the high temperatures with September suffering from the humidity aswell!

The Burj Al Arab serves an excellent Afternoon Tea in the Skyview Bar. Suspended 200 metres above the sea, spectacular views are guaranteed. With a feast of sandwiches, a selection of rolls with various fillings, scones with clotted cream, cakes and champagne, plus an amazing array of exotic teas, this is an experience not to be missed!

Rental rates are on the move again, with 3 bed apartments in The Greens going for AED 125,000, AED 5,000 more than a month ago. Still 40% lower than 6 months ago so it´s a great deal for anyone renting! More and more expats are moving house at the moment in the search for something cheaper or bigger or in a different location! Make sure your property is well advertised at a decent price and if has not been rented out in 7 to 10 days, try a different agent!

Don´t forget to look at the photos of The Crescent, Smart Heights & Lago Vista on You will need to register but it only takes a couple of minutes. I will be adding more soon!

Thanks for the new enquiries from clients in Lake Terrace. I can complete Handovers for clients in any project, so please don´t hesitate to make an enquiry.

Hello! Sherwoods will soon be holding Dubai´s second property auction on 4th June at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Due to the failure of Dubai´s first auction to produce any sales on the night, Sherwoods are looking to ensure that the reserve prices are dropped and may also be reducing their lots from 50 to 20 properties. It will be interesting to see what happens!

There are some great rental deals being advertised on the market at the moment, some by owners, some by agents:-

Discovery Gardens:

Studios from AED 40,000, 1 beds from AED 60,000, 2 beds from AED 85,000

The Greens:

1 beds from AED 65,000, 2 beds from AED 95,000

Palm Jumeirah, shoreline apartments:

1 beds from AED 90,000, 2 bed + maids room from AED 150,000

Jumeirah Lake Towers:

Studios from AED 38,000, 1 bed + study from AED 80,000, 2 bed + maids room from AED 105,000

The deals in the Greens are astounding, given that this is such a developed and desirable area!

Having witnessed the dancing fountains at the Dubai Mall this evening, I would now highly recommend watching this phenomenon! With amazing choreography, the fountains dance in time with the music, it´s really quite a spectacle!

I have a busy week ahead with a number of Handovers to complete in The Crescent and Lake View. If anyone needs help with their Handover and is considering using the Power of Attorney Service, please don´t hesitate to send an email or call in.

Hi there! If you haven´t been to the Dubai Mall it is definitely worth a visit! With over 900 shops and more coming soon, it is the largest shopping mall in the World! Spread over an area of 12 million sq ft, there are 160 dining establishments, an Aquarium, an Underwater Zoo plus an ice rink! With spectacular indoor waterfalls, just outside is the tallest man made structure in the world, The Burj Dubai. Soaring 818 metres high, with 160 habitable floors built at a cost of US$800 million, this extraordinary building is expected to be completed in September 2009. They have also just opened the new Dubai Fountains which have 14 performances between 6pm and 11pm. Designed by California based WET, the creators of the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas, the water jets reach 500 ft! (equivalent to a 50 storey building!) and dance to 6,600 WET Superlights!

Beat Antenna was recently named by Time Out as the best rock band to come out of Dubai! Their music is very much like Kings of Leon - to find out more information visit They have a lot of gigs and recently supported the Charlattans at Chi at the Lodge. Check Time Out aswell for up coming venues…

Have you already bought your ticket for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix? Despite recent reports saying that the tickets, hotels and general costs are more than the Monaco Grand Prix, it will definitely be worth going to! Taking place on 1st November 2009 at the new Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, the 20 corner circuit has been designed by Hermann Tilke as an Arabian version of Monaco. Working hard to get the project finished, there are 4,000 workers on the circuit at any one time with a total of 47 million man hours worked on the project so far!

Thanks for the new enquiries this week from owners of Lake View, Lake Terrace and The Crescent. I am delighted to be able to help you complete your property Handovers as your Power of Attorney. If anyone has any questions at all, please don´t hesitate to call or send an email.

Wishing everyone a good weekend!

Hello! If you are looking to set up a bank account in Dubai as a non resident, typically you will just have a standard current account with an ATM card. They will not give you a cheque book or a credit card and they usually require a minimum balance of AED 5,000. There are so many banks to choose from with HSBC being a strong favourite amongst Expats as it is so well known!

The Marriott Hotel, whilst being renowned for their luxury hotels, are very popular here for their time share operation. Citizens from the GCC countries love to buy time share abroad with Paris being the number 1 destination and London following a close second! The JW Marriott have a lovely hotel here, right in the centre of Deira, close to the Creek.

There are many areas throughout Dubai that have huge villas. With a massive indoor area, it is typical that the garden or yard is fairly small. Murdiff is an area that I visit every few weeks as we have good friends living there in a huge 4 bed villa. A really lovely house with so much space, the only draw back is being on the flight path! With 747's flying overhead every few minutes they drown out the sound of any conversation! However if you have a family and want the space, this area is quite superb! With the rental prices dropping, there are many good deals to be had aswell, with a 4 bed villa typically renting for AED 170,000 which is a substantial drop from 2008 rates.

If you have not yet completed your property Handover or even if your property is not completed for a few months, please don't hesitate to send an email or give me a call if you have any questions. I am here to help!

Wednesday 27th May 2009

Hi! Congratulations to all the Barcelona fans out there. Very exciting game tonight, shown live here in many venues, both indoors and out. The Underground Pub in The Habtoor Hotel in the marina is very popular amongst football fans and they do a good menu too if you like fish & chips, bangers & mash or a good steak!

Can you believe that it was 48 degrees today? So incredibly hot and it´s only May…humidity is low though so this high termperature is bearable!

Madania Real Estate held their first property auction yesterday. With 3 villas in the Arabian Ranches and a penthouse apartment in JBR under the hammer, no properties actually reached their reserve price. However with an audience of 120 people and a number of people bidding it was a fairly good event.

If you fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of Dubai, it is worth spending a couple of days in Fujeirah. The Meridien Al Aqah Hotel is located right on the beach with the Hajar mountains behind you and the Indian Ocean infront, it is an idyllic setting. Boasting one of the largest pools in the Middle East, there are a range of restaurants to choose from including Indian, Thai, Arabic and the Gonu Steak & Grill is quite superb, serving the finest wines and delicious seafood! Lie by the pool and be served platters of fresh melon and cold flannels or swim up to the pool side bar for cocktails! It is a heavenly retreat which is very popular, so make sure you book in advance.

If you are unsure whether to use a Power of Attorney for your Handover or even if you just have questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Hello! There are thousands of people here in Dubai working for Emirates Airlines! With new routes still opening, Dubai now seems to be a major stop over! If you are flying to Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand – please pop in and say hello! I think everyone should experience the new A380 Airbus; with a twin deck and 4 aisles it is the future of air travel! In First Class you get your own private suite, shower Spas and a dedicated lounge. In Business Class you get your own minibar, a flat bed that massages you and you can meet fellow flyers in your own lounge area! Even in economy you have a choice of over 1,000 channels of entertainment! Fantastic!

As the rental rates have dropped, there are many expats now looking to move house. Everyone I speak to seems to want to move area, upgrade to a villa or a bigger apartment! For all the owners out there, be prepared to move quickly, accept more cheques and even drop your price a few thousand dirhams to get your property rented. It is a tenants market now and they have the pick of the bunch. have been renting out properties within 24 hours of being on the market but at sensible prices.

It is interesting to see that many people are still keen to sell their properties here on the resale market. In Lake View, studios are selling for approx. AED 450,000, 1 beds for AED 650,000 and 2 beds for AED 1 million to AED 1.2 million Great prices for anyone looking for a good deal. For owners who bought 5 years ago, this is still a profit but is much less than the prices a year ago.

Dubai is such a new market and has so much more to learn and experience. When you look at mature markets such as the UK where capital growth has averaged 100% every decade, what has happened in Dubai in 5 years is quite a phenomenon. In general, property does well over a long period of time and many investors buy property and just sit on it for years, benefiting from rental income.

Dubai is a great place and has so much to offer! So don´t despair! If you have waited years for your property to complete, let´s get the final and most important part finished! If you need help for your Handover, don´t hesitate to get in touch!

Greetings! One thing that is so surprising about Dubai is that you can rarely walk anywhere. Not because of the heat but because there are very few pavements and everywhere is so spread out. I must say that I love The Greens! You can walk to the mall, get your shopping and walk around the lakes! Surrounded by fountains and palm trees it´s quite a novelty and very enjoyable!

Bur Dubai and Deira are a different story of course which are the original Dubai. You hear stories of how people used to go camping on the beaches outside of Dubai and discuss the rumours that they were going to build hotels on the beach! “No, that will never happen!” was the standard reply! And on that site they built the Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel!

Gone are the days when the Sheikh Zayed Road was just a 2 lane road, now replaced by a 12 lane highway! One wonders what Dubai will be like in ten years from now!

Are you looking for a good interior design company? Perhaps you have recently purchased an office or are looking to rent one out. One company with Western philosophies and superb service, who pride themselves on quality are definitely worth looking at. View or call +971 4 323 5802.

I have had more enquiries today from as far away as New York! The Power of Attorney Service can help any property owners, wherever you are based. Don´t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email! I can complete a Handover for any project here in Dubai, saving you valuable time and effort.

Sunday 24th May 2009

Good evening! Are you any closer to completing your property Handover? If not and you need help, please get in touch with Power of Attorney Service!

From a distance Discovery Gardens is a sprawling concrete jungle and not somewhere I would consider living. But I have totally changed my opinion after spending some time there today! Drive past the Gardens and you enter a beautifully designed, Spanish style, all American community!

The low rise blocks have pretty wooden shutters, Romeo & Juliet balconies and endless green areas giving it a very homely feel! There are enough trees, gardens and flowers to even impress my mother! 26 million square feet with 30% landscaping, apparently there are 13 pools, tennis courts and basket ball courts (I didn´t see any so will have a closer look next time!) To drive from one end to the other is a 6km drive hence the American feel! Very few shops on site but I did spot a Dominos pizza. But with Ibn Battuta mall just a few minutes drive away, who needs shops on site?! The mall is home to 250 shops, a 21 screen cinema, 30 restaurants & food outlets and even a Fitness First!

If you are transferring money overseas and want to get a good exchange rate, make sure you look around for the best deal. I would definitely recommend First Rate FX who have offices in Canary Wharf London and Dubai. They offer very competitive rates (better than any bank, with no commissions & no transfer fees!) Visit or call +44 207 038 8075

The developments page will be coming to you shortly where I will be uploading photos of projects which are under construction and due for completion within the next year or so. So watch this space….!

Thanks again for all your enquiries, emails and phone calls! It has been a very busy weekend! I look forward to helping many of you complete your Handover!

Saturday 23rd May 2009

Hello! I hope all our UK owners are enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend! It must have been the hottest day of the year, here in Dubai. A scorching 42 degrees and due to get hotter! HELP!

Jumeirah Walk, below Jumeirah Beach Residence, is a very different place to a year ago! With the Oasis Hotel almost gone now it will be interesting to see what will be built there instead. Jumeirah Walk is a great place for eating and shopping and if you fancy a drink you can pop over to the Hilton, the Ritz Carlton or dine at Wagamamas or Frankies. 4 weeks ago there were tons of people spilling out onto the street, sipping coffees and dining al fresco. Today it was like a ghost town…but everyone was just hiding inside the restaurants due to the midday heat! Paul´s Café is a great place for lunch. Lots of fresh salads, sandwiches, main dishes and even croque monsieur!

Ocean Heights, one of Damac´s most impressive developments really is in such a superb location. Right opposite Le Meridien Hotel with its white sandy beaches and infamous Barasti Bar, Ocean Heights is now soaring to over 50 storeys! Currently on a level with the adjacent Tamani Hotel and the luxurious Le Reve Apartments, there is another 32 storeys to go ensuring that this project will be the tallest building in the marina with incredible views to match!

Thanks for all the new enquiries today! I also received 3 attested Power of Attorney documents this weekend; the Handovers should be finished in the next 7 days, saving the owners a serious amount of time, effort and money.

Power of Attorney Service – making the Handover process simple!

Greetings property owners! Whilst Dubai is referred to as a futuristic city I still find it amazing that many banks don´t offer Debit cards! The majority of expats here survive on credit cards or cash! Coke cans still have the old ring pulls! And tenants have to pay the commission to agents when renting property!

In most cities around the world, an owner would typically expect a 5% to 7% rental return or at the very least expect a property to cover its costs. Here in Dubai, for the last few years owners have made a small fortune on rental returns. Rental rates have dropped dramatically this year but the percentage returns are still high for some, compared to what they paid.

The new Marina Mall opposite Jumeirah Lake Towers is proving to be very popular, especially with Dubai´s first Waitrose supermarket! Once the Metro is finished in September you will be able to use the walkway above Sheikh Zayed Road to walk directly to the marina. Excellent news for JLT owners/tenants as there are still limited facilities there.

The Yacht Club in the Marina is the number one place to go at the moment. Packed on a Thursday night after work, you would think it was a Friday evening in London! With the balmy evenings that we are having right now, standing out on the wooden decking overlooking the boats is really quite enjoyable. They do great nibbles as well!

Now is the time to head to Wild Wadi water park or Aquaventure in the Atlantis. Wild Wadi is the better of the two in my opinion. Many rides are interlinked and have water jets which shoot you upwards! Better known as "uphill water roller coasters" They also have flow riders where you can learn to knee board and body board! The food is great, there are big comfy sunloungers everywhere, juice bars and the Jumeirah Sceirah is quite a thrill! Dropping 33 metres at a speed of up to 80 km per hour! They have a superb wave pool, a lazy river, and even an interactive family play structure with 100 different activities for children! Spend the day there and you won´t be disappointed!

If you are still trying to find the time to come to Dubai or are not able to come until later in the year, please don´t hesitate to use the Power of Attorney Service to help you complete your property Handover.

Thursday 21st May 2009

Good evening! Either your weekend has arrived or there is just one more day to go!

A number of UAE banks have started lending money again to overseas investors which is great news for many people. Mashreq bank have been lending a minimum of AED 100,000 to foreigners, so they would be a good place to start.

They say that the Dubai metro system will be ready on time, by September 2009! I must say that the metro stations positioned along Sheikh Zayed Road look fantastic! Very futuristic, a kind of matt gold colour on the outside. Whilst the traffic is actually pretty good on the main roads and there are a lot of taxis around, the metro system will be quite a novelty and I´m sure very popular!

Dubai is host to a lot of superb shows. Cirque du Soleil was here in March with the amazing Alegria. Stationed next to the Ibn Battuta mall for a month, it was packed out twice a day! AED 550 for a decent ticket but worth every Dirham! Superb acrobatics and stunts, the performers are really something else. The Comedy Convention Festival was here last month with the likes of Omid Djalili, Rob Magnotti and Ahmed Ahmed. Showcasing at Dubai Media City it was the funniest comedy show I had ever been to! You can nearly always get a ticket to any event and since everywhere is close by, it´s worth making the effort!

Welcome to the Power of Attorney Service! It has been another fabulous day here in Dubai, blue skies and hot! A number of UK clients have been to the UAE Embassy in London this week to organise the Power of Attorney and I will be completing their Handovers next week.

If you have a busy schedule, need the keys to your apartment or want it rented now before the summer is here, then please get in touch! I can have your Handover completed in no time at all, saving you both time and money.

I visited The Crescent on Sunday and I must say it is looking good! Whilst noone was playing tennis, the pool looked very appealing and the Japanese gardens are really quite pretty!

I keep a constant eye on the roads in The Greens / Tecom Site C area which they have been working on for months and months! The road has been widened and the new bridge going to Dubai Media City will be superb once finished! A 5* Media Rotana Hotel has opened in the Site C area close to Executive Heights, Smart Heights, Grosvenor Business Tower and the Cayan Building. They do a superb Asian Buffet on Thursday nights for AED 159 each! Great atmosphere and really good value for money!

Thanks to everyone for all their enquiries and support! If anyone needs my help or has any questions, please don´t hesitate to get in contact!

Best regards, Helen Eaton
